Overview

The investment objectives of the Company are to achieve a high income from, and to realise long-term growth in the capital value of its portfolio. The Company seeks to achieve these objectives by investing primarily in companies operating renewable energy assets, or facilitating the delivery of renewable energy to customers. As such its portfolio is exposed to those companies which aim to address the following Sustainable Development Goals, as adopted by the United Nations:

 

• Affordable and clean energy:

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

 

• Industry, innovation and infrastructure:

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation.

 

• Climate Action:

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Green Economy Mark

In January 2021 the Company received London Stock Exchange’s Green Economy Mark, a classification which is awarded to companies and funds that are driving the global green economy. To qualify for the Green Economy Mark, companies and funds must generate at least 50% of their total annual revenues from products and services that contribute to the global green economy.

The Manager of the Trust

The Manager of the trust is Premier Miton Group, and as part of the execution of the trust’s investment strategy, its fund managers follow Premier Miton’s responsible investing policy. They integrate Governance and Social responsibility into the investment process, actively engage with investee companies in order deliver improved outcomes for all stakeholders and take an active approach to voting on company resolutions at annual general meetings of investee companies.

Premier Miton defines responsible investing as an approach to investing that includes the consideration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors alongside financial factors, supported by stewardship activities such as voting and engaging with the management of companies in which it invests, or is considering investing in.

Standards and Codes

Premier Miton has been a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment since January 2020, an organisation which encourages and supports its signatories to incorporate environmental, social, and governance factors into their investment and ownership decisions.
