This seminar, entitled ‘Something old, something new’, focused on what has stayed the same about VCTs since their launch in 1995, and what has changed.

VCTs have continued to back small, ambitious UK companies, and the tax breaks available haven’t changed since 2006.  However, the rules about the kinds of companies VCTs can invest in have been altered over the years.

Assessing the impact of these changes, and the opportunities and risks offered by VCTs in general, were Nick Britton, Head of Intermediary Communications at the AIC, Alan Wallace (Octopus VCTs), Rodney Appiah (Foresight VCTs) and Andrew Garside (Baronsmead VCTs).
