Which investment companies were the most viewed in the first half of 2018?
Latest figures from the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) have revealed the top 20 most viewed member investment companies on its website, www.theaic.co.uk, for the first half of 2018. January 2018 broke the previous high for the number of monthly visits, which was achieved in March 2017, and traffic to the AIC website from January to June 2018 has increased 15% on the first half of 2017.
Most viewed investment companies
Topping the list as the most viewed member investment company on the AIC website is Scottish Mortgage, which was also the most viewed member company for the first half of 2017. It has also been in the top three most viewed member investment companies every month from January to June 2018.
Following Scottish Mortgage in second place is another Global sector investment company, Independent Investment Trust with Murray International from the Global Equity Income sector completing the top three. F&C Investment Trust, which celebrates 150 years since its launch this year, was the fourth most viewed member company and b follows in fifth place.
Member companies from global sectors have dominated this year’s list, making up over half (55%) of the top 20. This is followed by companies from the UK Equity Income sector, which makes up a quarter (25%) of this year’s list.
Dividend heroes
Investment companies with strong track records of dividend growth have remained popular in this year’s rankings. The list includes nine dividend heroes, investment companies that have increased their dividends for 20 or more consecutive years.
The rankings also feature three next generation dividend heroes, investment companies that have consecutively raised their dividends between 10 and 19 years. The next generation dividend heroes featured are: Murray International (3rd), Edinburgh Investment (7th) andb (17th).
New additions
Six investment companies (30%) are new entries this year, having not appeared in the rankings for the first half of 2017. The newcomers are Independent Investment Trust (2nd), Allianz Technology (6th), Edinburgh Worldwide (14th), Invesco Perpetual Enhanced Income (15th), Henderson Far East Income (17th) and Aberdeen Diversified Income & Growth (18th).

The AIC website includes a wealth of investment company information and it’s good to see that more investors are using it to help inform their investment decisions.
“From the top 20 most viewed investment companies for the first half the year, it’s clear that demand for income remains strong and investors are most interested in investment companies in the Global and UK sectors.”
