The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has announced a new category for the annual AIC Media Awards. The newly created Helen Pridham Rising Star Award will recognise a journalist covering investment companies who has up to two years’ experience.

The highly regarded Media Awards are open for nominations from the investment company industry. The awards celebrate the journalists who have best educated private investors and financial advisers about investment companies. Journalists do not have to submit entries as the awards are voted for by AIC members, their managers, brokers and analysts. The awards will be announced in September at a ceremony at Fortnum & Mason in London.

The existing award categories are:

  • Best National Journalist
  • Best Trade Journalist
  • Best Freelance Journalist
  • Best Financial Consumer Journalist
  • Best Online Journalist
  • Best Broadcast Journalist
  • Best VCT Journalist
  • Best Use of Social Media

“The Helen Pridham Rising Star Award has been created to commemorate Helen’s remarkable career in journalism which spanned four decades. Helen was an exceptional journalist and a great advocate of investment companies, regularly reporting on them. She won four AIC media awards and was respected and liked by everyone who knew her. This award celebrates her life and outstanding achievements.”

Annabel Brodie-Smith, Communications Director at the AIC

Annabel

Anna Pridham, Helen’s daughter, said: “On behalf of my sisters, we are honoured for this award to have been created in memory of our mother, Helen Pridham. The award pays tribute to her life’s work and love of the industry.
