The AIC has created a database of public announcements being made by investment companies in relation to issues that have arisen as a result of COVID-19.  The unusual circumstances created by this crisis have stimulated a substantial number of these disclosures.

Issues addressed include:

  • Arrangements for holding Annual General Meetings;
  • Dividends (deferrals, reductions, suspensions)
  • Valuations;
  • Company reporting;
  • Share buy backs/discount control mechanisms;
  • Gearing (including gearing levels and facilities)
  • Liquidity;
  • General market updates.

These issues represent the main topics covered.  Other matters have also been addressed.

The AIC database allows these announcements to be sub-divided according to industry sector/asset class.

Members considering their approach, and how they might best formulate a regulatory announcement, may find it useful to review approaches taken by others facing the same challenges.
