Investment trusts explained

This series of four 45-minute webinars is aimed at financial advisers, paraplanners, wealth managers and other finance professionals who want an introduction to investment trusts, or a refresher for those who want to update and deepen their knowledge.

The webinars are being held between 9 and 21 July.  Each webinar is presented by Nick Britton, Head of Intermediary Communications at the AIC, is accredited by the CII and endorsed by the CISI.

By attending the whole series of webinars, you will be able to:

  • Explain the differences between investment trusts and open-ended funds, and what they mean for the investor
  • Describe the main functions of investment trusts in financial planning
  • Identify the key metrics needed to analyse investment trusts, and understand how to interpret them

We explain how to research and select investment trusts from the 300 or so out there. We’ll also take a look at how to research investment trusts using the free tools on the AIC’s website.

  • Use the AIC’s website to research investment trusts
  • Assess investment trusts as potential investments based on key data such as discount/premium, gearing, share price and NAV performance, and ongoing charge
  • Identify other sources of research and information on investment trusts
