What is the Private Equity sector?

Take a closer look at the Private Equity investment company sector.

Private Equity is the second largest investment company sector, with total assets of £14.5 billion (to 31 January 2018). But despite its strong long-term performance and diversification benefits, it remains little understood by investors.

To help advisers and other investors improve their understanding of private equity, the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has teamed up with investment company managers to produce a series of videos.

The videos explain the types of businesses private equity investment companies invest in, define key terms such as IRR and carried interest, and answer the broader question of “What is private equity?”.

In addition, the AIC has produced an online training course on private equity investment companies, offering 60 minutes of structured CPD accredited by the CII, CISI and PFS. You can access the course in the AIC’s Learning Zone (registration required).

The full range of videos can be viewed on the AIC’s YouTube channel and via the online publication, Exploring Private Equity, which can be accessed by clicking on the image below.
