Richard Stone, Chief Executive of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC), is a chartered accountant with over 20 years leadership experience in financial services. Since joining the AIC in 2021 Richard has been a visible champion for the investment company sector. He regularly appears in the media, has given evidence to the Treasury Select Committee and established the Investment Company Showcase now one of the UK’s largest annual retail investor conferences. 

Prior to the AIC, Richard was Finance Director (2006-13) and Chief Executive (2014-2020) of Share plc, The Share Centre retail investor platform. He positioned the company to deliver exceptional customer service, including digital transformation, floated the business on AIM and oversaw its successful sale to interactive investor. Richard was the first Finance Director of Huntswood, a financial services outsourcing and consultancy business, and also has experience as an equity research analyst at a US investment bank and as an auditor at EY. Collectively this has given Richard a unique view of the many different aspects of capital and investment, but always with a keen eye on the investor and customer service.
