AIC H1 website investment company rankings

16 July 2019

Global and UK Equity Income companies lead the way.

Latest figures from the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) have revealed the top 20 most viewed member investment companies on its website,, for the first half of 2019. April 2019 saw a new record for visits to the site, with over 45,000 that month.

Most viewed investment companies

Topping the list as the most viewed investment company on the AIC website is City of London from the UK Equity Income sector, up three places from 2018.

Following City of London in second place is Scottish Mortgage from the Global sector, with Murray International from Global Equity Income completing the top three. Finsbury Growth & Income was the fourth most viewed company and F&C Investment Trust followed in fifth place.

The most represented sectors in the top 20 were UK Equity Income and Global, with six and five companies respectively.

Dividend heroes

Investment companies with strong track records of dividend growth have remained popular in this year’s H1 rankings. The list includes 12 dividend heroes, investment companies that have increased their dividends for 20 or more consecutive years.

The rankings also feature three companies from the next generation of dividend heroes, investment companies that have consecutively raised their dividends for between 10 and 20 years. The next generation companies featured are: Murray International (3rd), Edinburgh Investment (7th) and Henderson Far East Income (8th).

New additions

Four investment companies are new entries this year, having not appeared in the rankings for 2018. The newcomers are Scottish American (12th), Perpetual Income & Growth (15th), Caledonia (18th) and Woodford Patient Capital (20th).

Annabel Brodie-Smith, Communications Director of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC), said: “Traffic to our website has continued to increase and the number of visits reached an all-time high in April. The AIC website includes a wealth of investment company information and data and it’s great to see more investors using it to help build their knowledge and inform their decisions.

“From the top 20 most viewed investment companies for the first half of the year, it’s clear that demand for income remains strong and investors are particularly interested in investment companies with a long and proven record of increasing their dividends.”
