QuotedData’s morning briefing 13 March 2025 – AAIF, JEMI, SSIT

In QuotedData’s morning briefing 13 March 2025:

  • Isaac Thong is being appointed lead manager of abrdn Asian Income Fund (AAIF) to work alongside Eric Chan. Isaac is joining Aberdeen’s Asia Pacific Equities team from JPMorgan, where he co-managed JPMorgan Global Emerging Markets Income Trust (JEMI) and the open-ended JPMorgan Emerging Markets Income Fund. He will be a senior investment director (based in Singapore), and will be responsible for the day-to-day portfolio management of the company. He replaces Yoojeong Oh who is leaving Aberdeen to pursue other interests. The board says it is extremely grateful to Yoojeong for her work over the last decade.
  • Seraphim Space (SSIT) has announced interim results covering the six months ended 31 December 2024. The NAV return for the period was 5.1%. Unfortunately, the discount widened a little to 46.2% so that the share price return was -0.4%. Key drivers of NAV uplift were an increase in the fair value of ICEYE, driven by market comparables and continued strong performance, and Skylo, driven by a funding round, and increases in the share prices of listed holdings. The trust has £23.6m of cash reserves and a further £14.1m of potential liquidity via holdings in listed companies. Half of the portfolio representing 71% of fair value has robust cash runway (fully funded or has over 12 months of cash runway), with the companies that are not fully funded averaging nine months of cash runway.
