Bankers appoints tech manager to spot AI winners
Bankers (BNKR ) has bolstered its investment team with the appointment of Richard Clode as co-manager.
He joins long-standing manager Alex Crooke and from the end of October will take over Bankers’ North American portfolio. He has 22 years’ experience and joined Janus Henderson back in 2014.
He currently manages the open-ended Janus Henderson Global Technology Leaders fund , which is up 84.5% over the three years to the end of July versus 51.9% by the average fund in Citywire’s technology equities sector..
Earlier in his career, he worked as a portfolio manager on Herald (HRI ), alongside Katie Potts, which hit headlines earlier this year as it fought off activist Saba Capital at a resolution to oust its board and change the manager.
The board noted that Clode’s experience investing in the tech sector will prove invaluable during a period of ‘accelerated AI disruption’.
Bankers’ shares are up 30.6% over the past three years, which compares to a 36.5% gain by the average trust in the AIC’s global sector. The £1.3bn global equity portfolio currently trades on a 9% discount.
