Aberdeen trust suite agreed standstill with Saba
Apologies, Aberdeen issued a press release on 7 May 2026 that said the standstill agreement that it had come to with Saba in respect of Herald might also cover up to a further eight investment trusts in Aberdeen’s range – and we missed the story, hence we are correcting this now.
We spotted the potential arrangement this morning and included it in the daily news but Aberdeen has flagged to us that it isn’t new news.
Each of the boards of the eight trusts can make its own mind up about whether to participate in the standstill agreement.
We assume that the terms would be the same as for the Herald agreement – committing Saba not to exercise any voting rights on any resolutions proposed at any annual or other general meeting of these trusts against the recommendation of their boards.
As yet, none of the eight trusts has announced whether it will sign up.
It is not obvious why they wouldn’t do, unless there is a cost to this – something akin to Danegeld.
