If you weren’t a fund manager, what job would you do?
I'd run a smallholding. Investing and farming have a lot in common – patience, resilience and accepting that you can't control the weather!
What was the proudest moment of your career?
Seeing the BIPS portfolio grow beyond £500 million and getting to know many of the investors who have shared that journey with us.
What was the most difficult moment of your career and why?
The early days of the pandemic in 2020. Markets moved at extraordinary speed and there was very little certainty, which is exactly when clients need you to remain calm and make good decisions.
What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
Think independently, be patient, and don't spend too much time worrying about what other people are doing.
Away from the workplace, how do you spend your time?
Most weekends involve family, gardening, and outdoor projects. And, these days, a surprising amount of kids' football.

Tell us about the last book you read, or any music/concert you recently enjoyed.
A book on permaculture is probably quite a niche interest. Music-wise, the recent Michael Jackson film has sparked an MJ revival in our house and reminded us just how good his songs were.
What is your favourite film of all time and why?
Home Alone. Not because it's the greatest film ever made, but because it reminds me of Christmas, family and taking a break from the day job.
In your personal life, what would you like to achieve in the next 12 months?
I'd like to get some fruit trees planted in our new garden and find more time to sit still.
