If you weren’t a fund manager, what job would you do?

Create and develop a care home group. I see so many opportunities for a long-term business with great social purpose and stable returns, where the resident is loved and cared for with the staff enabled and honoured, and all in superb real estate.

What was the proudest moment of your career?

Doing a startup raising equity with a blind pool of assets and a team to create this business is very humbling.

What was the most difficult moment of your career and why?

Working with academics in a prior business, who were strongly of their own opinion, and barely understood economics.

What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

Work hard, stay humble, and marry well!

Kenneth MacKenzie

Away from the workplace, how do you spend your time?

I love the outdoors and sport, but most of all feel profoundly thankful that there is a Saviour for mankind, so regular church going, and the wonderful spirit of a vibrant worshipping community is core to all I seek to do.

Tell us about the last book you read or the last podcast you listened to.

The last book I read was by Niall Ferguson – The Square and the Tower: Networks, Hierarchies and the Struggle for Global Power. The most recent podcast I listened to was Things Unseen with Sinclair B. Ferguson, a weekday devotional podcast featuring thoughtful reflections on Christian life.

Where was the last place you went on holiday and why?

The US. My wife is from there and we have a son there, we tried an RV for a week!

In your personal life, what would you like to achieve in the next 12 months?

Be a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.
