PUBLIC CONFIDENT IN HOUSING MARKET BUT HIGHER INTEREST RATES BEGINNING TO BITE Despite evidence that the UK housing market is slowing down, research (1) from the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) demonstrates that the general public could be in for a shock with almost two thirds (62%) believing that the housing market will continue to rise in value whilst only 44% of active investors have the same opinion.

AIC INTRODUCES SECTOR CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM FOR VCTS The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has introduced a new classification system for Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs), creating six new sub-sectors which expand on the current ‘specialist’ and ‘generalist’ categories.

FUND MANAGERS COMMENT ON RE-RATING OF PROPERTY INVESTMENT COMPANY SECTOR The property investment company sector has been the fastest growing AIC sector over the last five years, and is today the third largest sector in the industry. However, the sector has experienced a re-rating recently and is currently trading at an average discount of 7.5% compared to a discount of 1% a year ago.

A record 17 investment companies announced policy and objective changes in 2006 to allow more investment flexibility, whilst the number of investment companies announcing active discount controls was also at its highest.
